Surface Pattern Design Workshop
Description: In this workshop we will explain the basic concepts and uses of Surface Pattern Design as well as the specific process of the artist Maria Penela for a collection creation. This will be followed with a live demonstration of the Wraparound Method, a manual way to create a pattern tile which students will apply to their own design giving them the tools to understand the process and work on their very own pattern.

Teacher: Maria Penela
Maria Penela is an artist and Surface Pattern Designer who started her journey as a professional artist shortly after graduating with a BA in Fine Arts at Barcelona University. Maria has worked in numerous printmaking studios around several countries and made her way into Surface Pattern Design about 5 years ago, it's been her path ever since. Having worked for various international fashion companies as an in-house pattern designer she decided about a year ago that it was time to start her own brand and bet on herself.
