About Wol Hide
Wol Hide creates easy wear for living in. Each piece is created with quality production focused on the craft of knitting, subtle details and textural elements. They use natural, organic and deadstock materials as much as possible with minimal dyeing or chemical processing, choosing fibers for how they wear on us and on the environment.
About Climate Beneficial Wool
These sweaters are knit with certified Climate Beneficial wool and alpaca from domestic farms which is then processed, spun and knit in the usa. The farms involved use certain regenerative farming practices which allow the land to sequester more carbon than it emits. Creating more land with healthy soil to absorb carbon is seen as a huge way to fight climate change.
The certification process is done by Fibershed, who is doing great work to support and grow domestic and regional fiber systems. The ranches and farms sign on to specific regenerative farming practices which rebuilds the soil health, allowing the land to sequester carbon. The farms become certified Climate Beneficial when they reach a certain point where their farm is absorbing more carbon from the atmosphere than it is emitting from operating.
Undyed Wool
An additional aspect of environmental awareness in these garments is the choice to use undyed wool. All 3 colors of yarn used making this style are completely undyed, showcasing the natural wool colors which will vary from year to year and flock to flock. The colors are a direct reflection of the earth and the animals from the past year. Undyed wool also uses less water to produce and eliminates the need to manage dye exhaust or waste which can sometimes contain heavy metals, even when natural dyes are used.
